Family Network Preschool has been in operation since 1991. We offer a socially-based enrichment program for a maximum of 23 preschool children per day, ages 2.5 through 5 years. On average, we have a student-teacher ratio of 5 to 1.
Educational Philosophy and Curriculum
At Family Network Preschool we care for the child as they come to us, and nurture their growth and development for the people they will become. We strive to teach independence and flexibility through problem solving and conflict-resolution skills, and honor interests and good ideas through emergent curriculum. We strongly advocate a partnership with parents and families at every level and know that supporting the growth and development of our children is a collaborative effort of a network of adults.
We believe that the best way to apply our care and instruction is through a child-centered, play-based approach. Careful consideration is given to the planning of play. All activities, materials, and toys within the child's reach have been thoughtfully selected and displayed to direct, encourage, and reinforce the child's own learning. Inherent in our philosophy is that early childhood practices are approached from a multi-cultural, anti-bias perspective. The differences and similarities that our students bring to the school guide us in meeting their needs and creating learning opportunities. It is our belief that an active child-centered environment supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of the young child.
